Who is the course for?
Anyone who wants to improve. This is one of the pages with knowledge that is worth its weight in gold. Once you know it, keep doing it and coming back when necessary. Share it with others who want to get better or whom you want to get better. (Maybe send it as a gift to a friend, teammate or doubles partner, phew now we don’t have to worry about what to get them for their next birthday or holiday gift anymore.)
Learning Path
Ah, the serve drill that changes lives. Ready to take your game to the next level, get comfortable with this drill, you’ll know how to improve from now on. Say a little thank you to Pancho & Lew Hoad when you do it, and you’ll see why they both got into the Hall of Fame and why Pancho coached 4 players into the Hall.
Video 2.5 Minutes
Practice what you need to. Remember, the definition of improvement is rounding out your game. So practice the part you’re not strong at, that is how we get better.
Video 2 Minutes
Simple footage of practicing 1st and 2nd serves left handed and right handed on both boxes. After you establish your 2nd serve, come back and do this type of drill. Practice your purposeful 1st serves with placement, then hit a 2nd. Even if you got the first in, hit the 2nd. Rehearse the grip change and the toss difference. Pretend it’s a real match, and rehearse, this way we have done it before, and we will be confident in the real life situation. Remember, touring professionals aim their 2nd serves with purpose. So don’t be afraid to work your way up to that too.
